CRAY Dangerous!

Wednesday, September 19th, 2012

Sam Hopkins is a pretty good kid, well a preacher’s kid. He has, though, found himself mixed up with the wrong crowd. Hanging around with delinquents, Sam knows it is only a matter of time before he makes one too many bad decisions and ends up in real trouble.

But one day, Sam sees these “friends” harassing a troubled schoolmate named Jennifer. Finding the courage to face up to the bullies, Sam loses a bad set of friends and acquires a very strange new one.

Jennifer is unique.  To Sam and everyone else, she seems downright crazy. She has terrifying hallucinations involving demons, the devil, and death. And really crazy part, Sam is beginning to believe that these so called visions may actually be prophecies -prophecies of something terrible that is going to happen very soon, unless he can stop it.

With no one to believe or help him, not even the police, Sam and Jennifer are now all alone in a race against time. Finding the truth before disaster strikes is going to be both crazy and very, very dangerous.

An amazing young adult fiction, Crazy Dangerous is yet another one of Andrew Klavan’s books.  So much action and mystery that you will not want to put it down!  I tip my hat to you, Mr. Klavan, and can’t wait for your next book!

Alienation C.H.A.O.S. by Jon Lewis

Tuesday, March 13th, 2012

Alienation is the second book in the C.H.A.O.S. series novel.  Alienation picks up with Colt McAlister and his friends, Oz and Danielle. It’s only been a short while since the end of his first adventure, but Colt and his friends get sucked back to another alien, mystery and action adventure.

Colt, Oz and Danielle head off for training at CHOAS, when it seems like Colt is being targeted.  Is there a bug in the CHAOS agency?  Who can Colt trust?  It seems like everyone around him seems to be hiding a secret.

Having book one mostly on character building, Jon Lewis was able to have a lot of fun in Alienation with many more action scenes and gadgets. I Am not sure if it was intentional, but what a great biblical parallel between David, Jonathan and Saul.  And it definitely showed.  When I received my book, I don’t think my family saw me the rest of the night.  Mr. Lewis also puts in a short 6 page comic prologue and sweet drawings of the characters.

It is a great read, not hard, but keeps you hooked and wanting for more.   I am so exciting and can’t wait for the last and final book of this awesome series!

CHAOS: The Invasion

Friday, December 2nd, 2011

What an amazing book! Invasion, written by Jon Lewis, is the first of the chaos trilogy concerning a 16 year old teen named Colt. Colt, the youngest of 8 boys, moves from the beaches of San Diego to his grandfather’s house in Arizona after his parents die from an assumed drunk driving accident. In Arizona he connects with his childhood friend, Danielle, and the school’s popular kid, Oz.

Colt eventually learns that his grandfather, father and brothers, who were all in the military, were part of a secret agency named CHAOS that continues to keep portals to other alien worlds closed and that his mother had some evidence against the main technology company, Trident Biotech, which is secretly trying to take over the world. Also, all his favorite comic books of the Phantom Flyer are not fiction but quite factual.

The three friends join together in this sci-fi adventure with alien like lizards, deadly mechanical spiders, jet packs and many more things out of this world to discover the truth and to take down Trident Biotech.

I really enjoyed the book! Being the first book, I really enjoyed how Mr. Lewis delved more into the characters and background, helping us readers connect with the book. I can’t wait for book two, Alienation.
